  • New Zealand eeling commercials are being stopped to save eels at risk.

  • National parks protect eels (Prohibited eel fishing)












  • ‘Glass eels’ are often caught by whitebait nets.

  • When eels are at the stage of maturity, their bodies tend to change, making it a bit difficult.

  • Once the female eel has laid enough eggs, she ends up dying from exhaustion.  

  • 95% of the lakes in NZ are drained.

  • Trees and bushes are no longer keeping the water clean and cool.
  • Lowland streams are still-flowing, polluted and warm. Not good for the critters/eels living in them.
